This year will see the release of Transformers: The Last Knight; the fifth film in Paramount Pictures’ Transformers series and the fifth Transformers film to be directed by Michael Bay. In a recent chat with MTV, Bay gave some hints about the future of the franchise, suggesting that his upcoming final film in the series would contain various easter eggs that may later be built upon in the growing Transformers cinematic universe.
Beyond giving a few details about the upcoming Bumblebee solo-movie, which Bay explained would be set in the past, before the first Transformers film, Bay revealed that he wouldn’t be adverse to returning to do one of the spin-offs at some point in the future, and said that a cameo or return from Shia Labeouf was a possibility.
And then, he dropped the bombshell that so far, the writers room for the Transformers series at Paramount has written up not one, not two, but fourteen stories for future films, which may start to see an annual release.
Do with that information what you will.
Transformers: The Last Knight will be released in cinemas on June 23rd 2017.
