Big horns and big epileptic seizures – just two of the many things on offer with Alt-J‘s latest track (and video), ‘In Cold Blood’.
Blending a reggae groove with some massive horn interludes, Alt-J’s second cut from upcoming new album, RELAXER, is a shape-shifting pop monster. Chuck in some dizzying, evolving synths, and a bit of church organ, ‘In Cold Blood’ constantly shifts through a spectrum of different sonic landscapes. Basically, they’re taking the piss.
Despite the heady instrumental arrangements, and massive pop production, vocalist Joe Newman still remains habitually laid back in his vocal delivery. Although we do get some ‘La La La La La La’s’ – a total festival crowd baiter.
But on to the epileptic seizures…
Much like with their previous single, 3WW, we get some pretty skittish computer generated visuals. If you suffer from photosensitive epilepsy (or even if you feel slightly off colour today), maybe skip the video embedded below and listen to the track via streaming links, here.
RELAXER is out June 2nd via Infectious Music.
