Dreamworks Animation and Universal Pictures have announced that a sequel to last year’s animated hit Trolls is in the works and set for a April 10, 2020 release. Stars Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake are set to reprise their roles as Poppy and Branch.
Based on the Trolls dolls created by Thomas Dam, the original Trolls was co-directed by Mike Mitchell and Walt Dohrn and written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, with the story by Erica Rivinoja. Aside from Kendrick and Timberlake (who also contributed music to the soundtrack), the movie featured the voices of Russell Brand, James Corden, Kunal Nayyar, Ron Funches, Icona Pop, Gwen Stefani, Zooey Deschanel, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Quvenzhané Wallis and John Cleese.
It is not clear at this stage if Justin Timberlake will once again contribute music to the movie, although it’s reasonable to assume that he will.
VH’s Charlotte Harrison gave the original a 3.5/5 in her review, which you can check out here.
