“You’ve expressed explicitly your contempt for matrimony, you’ve student loans to pay and will not risk the alimony, we spend our days locked in a room content inside a bubble and in the night time we go out and scour the streets for trouble”
I am sure that phrase is quite relatable to the students of today, as a student myself I can defiantly relate to the student loan bit. These words maybe the very words of students but are also the opening lyrics to Alvvay’s new single Archie, Marry Me.
Archie, Marry Me is going to be a song of the summer, having previously heard the track on the radio I knew from the very start I was going to love it. So to hear it again via the band’s sound cloud page was a pleasure.
It has that feel good factor about it, when you have had a bad day and you feel like sulking, don’t because Alvvays are here to make it all better. Just sit outside in the sun, have a cold beer and relax to Archie, Marry Me.
Though I am not a fan of the vocals or the lyrics, I get the feeling that it is too much like a song made for all those desperate lovers out there. The song sounds like a poor girl who really fancies a guy named Archie and does not know what to do about it so has asked for some advice and this song is the result of that.
I much prefer the music; it has become a sound worm of mine it is constantly in my head. Yes the five part band from Canada has managed to make a song memorable.
These guys are a certainly a band that will sound amazing live and will be touring in August with Real Estate.
