Goyer joins Cameron on his ‘Fantastic Voyage’

David Goyer, the highly sort after writer of the Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel and most importantly Death Warrant has been hire to create a treatment for James Cameron’s ‘Fantastic Voyage’ remake. Cameron is currently busy as a beaver on his Ferngully… sorry, Avatar sequels but his Fantastic Voyage remake has been a long mooted subject. Developments have been quiet over the last few years but the news of Goyer’s involvement seem to be a sign that things are ready to pick up again.

The original Fantastic Voyage concerned a team of scientists who are shrunk to a miniscule size and injected into the body of a dying Russian defector. It was a bit like Innerspace but with Donald Pleasance instead of Meg Ryan. It seems a good fit for Cameron with his love of science, the ocean and heavy effects we would get to see a tiny spaceship floating through the blood stream and tiny scientists do battle with white blood cells. Goyer’s scripts can be a little all-over-the-place at times but when he gets it right he is a very compelling writer and Cameron is a man who knows spectacle. Hopefully when we finally see his vision of the Fantastic Voyage it will be worth the wait.
