Every fashion season there are specialist fabrics that are favoured by designers, this spring/summer collection focuses on 3 main fabrics; Polyester, Lightweight Cotton and Mesh with Denim coming up as a close fourth.
American sport apparel is massive this season, which means so is polyester. The main items to look out for are baseball jerseys, basketball jerseys and track tops are also making a comeback. Top designers specialise in blending sport and fashion in an acceptable way include Sik Silk and Fly53.
2. Lightweight Cotton
Hoping for a hot summer, many designers including Scotch and Soda are planning ahead and released a collection of lightweight cotton shirts in bright colours that are breathable and can be worn dressy or casual.
Mesh vest tops have not yet made a comeback (thankfully) but mesh t-shirts have. They are cool and trendy for the spring and summer and can be worn with jeans or shorts. Mesh tees tend to be focusing on ‘sports’ style t-shirts like American football jerseys. Top designers using Mesh are Sik Silk, Bullion and BC London.
Denim will never go out of fashion. It was taken over for a while by chinos but it is back this season with mixed fabric denim shirts, patterned shorts and coloured jeans. However, we want to know – is wearing double denim still a No No?
It is great to see that fashion for men is definitely moving forward!
