iTCH – The Deep End (Album Review)

Rating:

A truly impassioned and creative performer, this album has been a long time coming for the former frontman of political punk outfit The King Blues. Following the breakup of his former band, Itch has forged his own career, focussing on his cutting lyrical style and passion for different musical styles to create a hybrid of punk, pop, electro and rock, all underpinned by Itch’s unique fire and attitude.

The album The Deep End is rough yet polished. Go in expecting hip-hop beats and you won’t be wrong, but you’ll be surprised. Chucked in the melting pot along with the rap and the hip-hop is some punk, some ska, and even some rock guitar riffs.

Making music to express points and thoughts, Itch has taken The King Blues sound and pushed it one notch further. With some interesting and talented vocal features, every song is different from the last, never highlighted better than by the fun retro track Another Man which features Megan Joy.

Itch is currently in the middle of a huge tour with Dan Le Sac VS Scroobius Pip and has been confirmed to play the second leg of the tour, starting in April.

The Deep End is out now.
