Fantastic news from the BBC. Below is a statement relating to the longevity of the content on the BBC iPlayer.
“People keep telling us they want programmes to be available on BBC iPlayer for longer – so extending availability from seven to 30 days will make iPlayer even better.
New iPlayer already has downloads, better recommendations, HD, live restart, favourites and collections, and extending the catch-up window to 30 days gives people even longer to enjoy their favourite BBC programmes.
We will now set about making this happen with the aim to roll this out from the summer.”
What do you guys think? I think this is a great step forward for the service and excellent for the BBC3 content which has been moved to all online. Many saw this as a demotion, but I thought it was an intelligent move considering the intended audience. Also this now proves the content will be given more respect and not just discarded after a week, possibly never to be seen again.
