Duke Dumont – I Got U feat. Jax Jones (Single Review)

Coming off the back of a Grammy-nomination for Best Dance Recording and a UK #1 song with ‘Need U (100%)’ Duke Dumont returns to pester the 1Xtra listeners with another floor filler.

Built over a simple but infectious drum-beat and steel drums ‘I Got U’ you promises to be one of the Spring/Summers “major bangerz”, I think that’s how they put it. Love it or loathe it. You will hear this banging through someone’s Vectra car doors. But it’s hard to be mad when something sounds as happy as this. I can already imagine it being used on Kodak or Apple adverts. Its refrain of “As long as I’ve got you” backed by a child’s choir chanting “yeah” makes the track both anthemic and intimate. This is certainly no mean feat for a dance track to accomplish.

The single is released March 16th via Blasé Boys Club/Virgin Records. But you’ll probably hear it soon enough.
