With The Luka State’s debut single Matter of Time due to be released on the 2nd of December, the buzz around the band couldn’t be more appropriate.
The electro influence on the track is instantly noticeable with a somewhat 80s introduction, and combined with the rock-influenced croakiness of lead vocalist Conrad Ellis’s voice, the band’s specific genre seems complete. The epitome of modern rock-n-roll.
I can’t help but deem myself a new fan after hearing the brilliance of The Luka State and witnessing their energetic video performance as they prance around a playground in what can only be described as mod-esque attire; Ellis sports a pair of Clubmaster sunglasses, a Fred Perry polo and a leather jacket, with a haircut to match. Their skinny jeans are a surely a given, right?
The interlude in the middle of the song also presents the vocal abilities of Conrad and the equally impressive instrumentals created by Sam Bell playing the bass guitar and Jess Whitmore on the drums.
Not to retract from the undeniable talent that this new favourite band of mine has, but what can go wrong when your debut song’s production is down to Sam Williams? The behind-the-scenes collaborator has worked with the likes of The Noisettes and Plan B.
Whilst The Luka State have succeeded in recruiting myself as one of their fond listeners, it’s suitably just a ‘matter of time’ until their fan base grows and they really blow up!
Be sure to check them out on their full UK tour and listen to their debut track below.
