This Saturday the East London Overground transforms from a simple means of getting around to a destination in itself for Sound Tracks festival. Sound Tracks is ingenious idea, a unique a one-day music and arts festival with a difference. You can hop on and off the Overground and catch an incredible line-up of performances at locations along the line – from Dalston Roof Park to the Bussey Building in Peckham, via the Brunel Museum in Rotherhithe and the Geffrye Museum in Hoxton. And, uniquely, you can watch musicians perform on the trains between them too.
After a hugely successful event in 2011, the line’s recent expansion down to Peckham and beyond means things are going to be bigger and better this year – awesome new venues are being arranged and art installations popping up in the city’s most interesting spaces. Taking place on Saturday 11 May, the headline acts of the festival include The Wave Pictures, Tawiah, and Guardian ‘New band of the day’ alumna Woodpecker Wooliams.
