Lower Plenty’s LP ‘Hard Rubbish’ caused waves in the Australian underground last year, even being voted album of the year by Mess + Noise (the go-to magazine for indie music in Australia) and is going to be taken further in April by Fire Records, who are releasing it to the world. On this evidence it is not difficult to comprehend why.
Fusing country rhythms alongside folk guitars ‘Strange Beast’ is unashamedly downbeat yet remains uplifting. The layered vocals are particularly impressive, weaving between each other as the song drifts along. Incredible and delicate, it is sure to be a highlight of ‘Hard Rubbish’ when it gets its global release.
