Be So Grand – Tonefarmer (Single Review)

Rating:

Describing themselves as a “dreamy, jangling” rock band I spent several moments trying to
comprehend what a jangling rock band could even sound like. Only by listening to them can you
understand what they mean; Tonefarmer’s music is slow paced rock if slow paced rock was to spend
it’s time orbiting the moon and floating around space. While their sound is undoubtedly unusual for
the instruments they play, it’s not necessarily unique.

Be So Grand comes from Tonefarmer’s second full release to date, and their first in 5 years Helium-
3. Uninspiring originally, it careers into life after a minute and continues until its end. While seeming
initially unimpressive ‘Be So Grand’ is supremely written in terms of lyrics and the lead guitar
supporting these words. Certainly a grower, ‘Be So Grand’ is claimed by the band to be the highlight
of Helium-3 and it is hard to disagree with them.
