‘Flaws’ is upbeat in a nod your head or stamp your feet sort of way. It has lead vocals which are warm and comforting and a background male chorus of ‘ooh’ that provides a lushness to the track. It is quite slow and paced. Bastille obviously found a simple idea for a song and ran with it- and good on them. It’s a song that grows on you the more you listen to it; the multitude of vocals makes it seem like the voice of the collective. For a song which seems quite poppy, the lyrics are actually brutally honest and frank- ‘you have always worn your flaws upon your sleeve, and I have always buried mine beneath the ground, dig them up’. Bastille have fled from their namesake with this song- there are no flaws to be found here.
