With a drained voice that’s drowned out by noise, this is music you can just lose yourself in- you don’t need to focus yourself solely in it. The lead singer’s voice slips through between creases in the mix of churning guitars. It is the perfect balance of poppy and grungy at the same time. Despite being called ‘Ennui’, Shinies show no sign of feeling like their name with this energetic track. It shows great promise and fits in well with successful music of the moment (occasionally, the band sound like the up and coming Spector)- then again you’d expect no less from a Manchester band.
