The video for The Rest is a real balletic affair, a love story with visual artistry and metaphors induced by special effects and make up, with an ending that is quite frankly a little bit crazy. The song is a melancholic and tranquil piece which sounds similar to Nick Drake but much softer sounding vocal.
It’s a really enchanting track which has a violin accompaniment and the song climaxes in dramatic fashion which gives it a really effervescent feel.
The vocals are repetitive yet never seem to grate as they are gently arranged around the acoustic guitar and piano arrangements. It’s a song that on the surface seems quite downbeat with the lyrics and theme but feels like there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
