Controversial Download line-up revealed

The line-up for Download 2012 looks to be as noisy and exciting as ever. On Friday 8 June The Prodigy will return to Donington Park to close the main stage with a showcase of tracks from their forthcoming album, released later this year.

Metallica will take Saturday’s top spot to perform their legendary Black Album in its entirety, while a re-formed Black Sabbath will headline Sunday.

Other confirmed main stage acts are Chase & Status, Biffy Clyro, Soundgarden, Machinehead, Tenacious D, Megadeth, Billy Talent, Fear Factory, Trivium, Lamb of God, Black Label Society, Kyuss Lives! and Devildriver.

Headlining the second stage will be guitar god Slash (Friday), You Me At Six (Saturday) and Rise Against (Sunday).

Supporting acts will please heavy metal fans as they include The Devin Townsend Project, Anthrax, Ugly Kid Joe, Periphery, Terror Vision and Little Angels.

More bands are yet to be announced and the festival will be held on 8-10 June.  For updates and to buy tickets visit downloadfestival.co.uk.

Machine Head should be on after Chase And Status. Not only are Chase and Status rubbish, but Machine Head’s Unto The Locust was the best metal album of 2011.
