Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is one of the most popular video game series in the world. And someone’s made a movie out of it. Now normally we wouldn’t care about what would usually be the prelude to a massacre of cinematic taste and decency. But this looks different.
Firstly they’ve gone to great lengths to reproduce the aesthetic qualities of the game. Everything is here from split screens, to outlandish character design, to the graphics that come up on screen when an accusation is made.
Secondly, it’s directed by Takashi Miike, one of the greatest and most versatile film makers in the world. His skill in tackling a diverse array of genres and source materials, most of which would remain untouched by other directors of his class, is legendary. He is simply unafraid to shock, stupefy and down right mind fuck his audience; and as such is the perfect director for such a project.
It is not yet known if this film will get a cinematic release over here (UK), but for our international readers the release dates are the 11th of February in Japan and the 15th of May in America. Follow @vulturehound
