'Paul' – Film Review

Rating:

Paul is another blockbuster hit from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost full of twists and turns with plenty of interesting characters along the way.

An escaped alien named Paul, who is voiced by Seth Rogen crashes his car and comes across the two geeky characters played by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost who are alien spotting after visiting comic con.

After deciding to help Paul escape, a hilarious journey begins to help him return home. They meet some great people along the way including a Christian women, who they kidnap after she spots Paul, this results in her dad following the group as well as the government agents who are trying to find them.

The story comes to a head with funny and brilliant consequences, which results in a heart-warming finish and an appearance from Sigourney Weaver.

This film is slightly geekier than the last two from this pair and doesn’t quite have the English feel that Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz did. However, it is still a very funny film and an interesting story.

Seth Rogen is brilliant as Paul and delivers some brilliant one liners, you can also tell that this film is something that is close to Simon and Nick’s heart. There are references to other science fiction films in there, such as the Star Wars theme music and you can tell which bits they thought about to add slyly to show it is a personal project.

If you are after a film that is very funny, but full of action just with a geeky twist then this film is definitely for you!
